Ulrike Muench, RN, PhD
Dr. Ulrike Muench received her PhD from Yale University (2012) with a focus in health policy and health care systems. She recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. Buerhaus at Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Muench is an interdisciplinary health services researcher at the intersection of nursing, health policy, and healthcare economics. Her program of research centers on the healthcare workforce. Applying quantitative methods and using large data sets, her work aims to understand the role of nursing in healthcare delivery with the goal to improve effectiveness, efficiency and equity in healthcare services.
She was recently awarded funding from the Health Care Cost Institute and the National Academy for State Health Policy to evaluate the effect of state scope of practice laws on pharmaceutical utilization. She also holds clinical certification as a registered nurse and trained as a nurse practitioner.
